Nearly two-thirds of the energy used by conventional electricity generation is wasted in the form of heat discharged to the atmosphere.
Additional energy is wasted during the distribution of electricity to end users. By capturing and using heat that would otherwise be wasted, and by avoiding distribution losses, CHP can achieve efficiencies of over 80 percent, compared to 50 percent for typical technologies (i.e., conventional electricity generation and an on-site boiler).
The power production is on site thus losses are minimal. Furthermore, the heat produced by the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) instead of being thrown in the air can be used to get heat, steam, hot water or chilled water. The saving of primary energy is in the range of 35% as can be appreciated when comparing Cogeneration and Separated Power Production
Diesel, Natural Gas, Biogas, LPG, Sour Gas, Industrial Waste Gas, Manufactured Gas. Natural Gas and Biogas can be even used together in so called Dual Gas Application
